Career Planning will provide introductory information about the world of work emphasizing the dignity and significance of work. Topics covered will include the following: communication, how to find and keep employment, employer expectations interviewing, ethics in the workplace, personal awareness, succeeding in the workplace and workers rights. The course will also include post secondary options, which will allow students to understand the career decision-making process. Each student will develop an individualized career portfolio and action plan containing a personalized career search, career shadowing experiences and training opportunities including mock interviews.
Note: Students who have a job may receive an additional 1⁄2 credit if they enroll in the Work Experience portion of the course. Students must complete 90 hours on the job to fulfill this requirement. Off-campus learning opportunities available within this course.
