Home Schooling

In accordance with state law, Mankato Area Public Schools is required to ensure that all school-age children living within the boundaries of the District are being educated. This site will provide families choosing to home school with the necessary information and forms and help home schools comply with state law.

For general home school questions and to check out requirements, visit the Minnesota Department of Education website. Families who determine home schooling is best for their child must complete the Non-accredited, Nonpublic School Full Report, or the Letter of Intent to Continue Homeschooling, and submit it to Mankato Area Public Schools by October 1.

  • For first-time home schooled students, Pupil Immunization Record and Testing Information are required when submitting your Non-accredited, Nonpublic School Full Report.
  • For home school students previously reported to the District please submit a Letter of Intent to Continue Homeschooling.
  • Families who need the Student Report for Aids to Nonpublic Students, should contact Becky Bailey in the business office at 507-207-4007.

For additional questions, you may call the Minnesota Department of Education at 651-582-8200 or visit the state School and Enrollment Choice webpage.
