Superintendent Search

The Mankato Area Public Schools ISD 77 School Board has contracted with School Exec Connect, a superintendent search firm, to assist with the search for a new superintendent.  Board members want you to be informed of the process that we will be following as we conduct the search for a new superintendent.  Please feel free to check this page often for updates and news.

The School Board will conduct first round interviews as outlined below.  The interviews will be held in the Minnesota Valley Room at the Intergovernmental Center (10 Civic Center Plaza).  The interviews are open to the public.

PROFILE FOR THE NEW SUPERINTENDENT

THE NEXT SUPERINTENDENT SHOULD BE A PERSON WHO:

 

  • Is a visionary leader with the ability to create synergy around a strategic plan that will continue to move the district forward with expectations of excellence for all students and staff

  • Is able to evaluate the current facility needs and project for the future so that the growing populations educational needs can be met
  • Can strategically plan for facilities, communicate the needs to the community and pass referendums and bond levies as needed
  • Will continue the current and build more relationships with the businesses, college and University, city, county, community profit and non- profit agencies to mutually benefit students and the community
  • Has successful experience addressing equity and diversity within a system and creating cultural competence and support systems for student success
  • Knows curriculum development processes and how to create curriculum for 21st Century learning, to close the achievement gaps and to meet the needs of individual students through differentiation of instruction. Can create options for all students to have access to the curriculum options
  • Builds programs and services that will provide all students options for advanced education, career planning, and the world of work
  • Can create a highly functioning administrative team with high expectations, and accountability
  • Will be an integral member of the community and visible at community and school functions
  • Will have a relationship with students to understand their needs and to be their advocate for curriculum that offers options, advocate for services to meet their social-emotional needs and provide a safe and caring environment that nourishes them
  • Is an advocate for an educational system that values and provides high quality services from ECFE to Adult Education for senior citizens
  • Supports the need for student safety with a fair discipline system consistently implemented and through the provision of counseling, and recognition of individual student needs
