S.H.I.N.E. Celebrates Diversity
Students in Mankato East's S.H.I.N.E. Club, advised by Bukatah Hayes of Greater Mankato's Diversity Council, led students through a series of events and activities that celebrated cultures around the world. Auditorium events performed by Minnesota State University- Mankato students included poetry and dance performances. Activities in the commons included a trivia game in which students memorized quotes by important people such as Mahatma Gahndi, Barak Obama, and Maya Angelou. In a bingo game, students matched quotes with pictures of the person who said them. It was an interesting and enjoyable afternoon. Thank you, S.H.I.N.E. members, for an enlightening program.

World Languages Thanks Educare!!
Students taking World Language classes are the beneficiaries of a generous Educare Grant. The grant provided funds for the purchase of twelve flip-cameras for recording video along with flip-camera tripods. Also on order is a full-sized video camera (with tripod) that will have some additional capabilities. Students record themselves speaking their new language in order to demonstrate their fluency and accuracy. They can also hear themselves and their peers speak which helps them make improvements when needed. Students will also use the cameras to create short movies using their new languages for class assessments. THANK YOU FOR THESE AWESOME LEARNING TOOLS, EDUCARE!!
