Madison Heiser places third in national history contest

Madison Heiser, West High School, placed third in the National History Club's Lessons of Leadership Contest for a research paper she wrote about President Franklin Roosevelt. The contest invited students to select a quote from a historical figure and examine how that person’s actions validated his/her words and helped make an impact on history. The quote that Heiser selected was "We have nothing to fear but fear itself." Madison's paper analyzed how President Roosevelt's leadership during the Great Depression and World War II helped calm the nation's fears. She received a $500 prize for her achievement.
